Why many providers are looking elsewhere
From 9 November 2026 the SolusVM Unlimited licence goes up by 29.9% on the current price (Mini and Micro stay the same). LowEndBox broke the news and it's being discussed on LowEndTalk. With many nodes, that's a cost that grows every year without a single new feature.
The real problem, though, isn't switching panels: it's moving customer VMs without changing IPs, without reinstalling and without a night of downtime.
How KoaVM moves VMs off SolusVM
- In Migration › Connect a source pick SolusVM 1 or SolusVM 2 and add the nodes (SSH access with the panel's key).
- If you also add the SolusVM API, KoaVM reads hostname, IP and customer of each VM and, after the move, suspends the VM in the old panel.
- Scan: the panel finds VMs, disks and IPs. For each VM you pick the customer, the target node and the mode.
- Pre-flight checks: space, network, IPs and access. If something's wrong, it doesn't start.
- Near-live: the disk is mirrored while the VM keeps running, then a restart on the new node. Or cold, if you prefer.
If anything goes wrong, the source VM goes back as it was and starts again on its own. Customers get an email before and after, with the time and the expected downtime.

Same IP, same MAC, no lost writes (a counter written to disk every 0.2 seconds stayed continuous). SolusVM 2 suspended both VMs after the move, through its API. The lab runs on nested VMs: on real hardware times are lower.

What stays the same for your customers
- The same IP and the same MAC: no DNS to change, no MAC-bound licences to redo.
- The same disks, even more than one per VM.
- A VM that's off in SolusVM stays off afterwards.
- A client area with console, reboot, reinstall, snapshots, backups and traffic.
